Over the past thirty years Montreal-based artist Hannah Alpha has been refining and simplifying her expression of movement and of the human body. With a few minimalist lines, she illustrates the human body in all its sensuality and its simplest expression.
Through her practice of Tai Chi, she has developed an intensification of consciousness of the unity between being and awareness, and that feeling permeates throughout her art.
“Starting in 2020, because of the Covid pandemic, I could not go to any Atelier de Dessin for live models. Many Internet sites with live models filled up the empty space and I spent many hours everyday taking advantage of those readily available live sessions through Zoom. I drew models from around the world, in sessions with artists coming each time from 20 or more cities worldwide. These are my latest works, and they sum up everything I have learned over the years.” – Hannah Alpha
